Nice, Adamson

I may have been too harsh in a previous post. That's because Adamson, after losing to Ateneo in the PCCL finals, loaned some of its best players to reinforce the Blue Eagles in the recently-concluded 18th 3-D Gold Super Kung Sheung Cup.

With the PCCL win Ateneo earned the right to play in the Hong Kong tournament. But when some Blue Eagles weren't able to make the trip, head coach Norman Black drafted Alex Nuyles, Lester Alvarez, Jan Colina, and Eric Camson from rival Adamson. It was a nice gesture, yet inspired, too: Black, who will form a team of college players to represent the Philippines in the 2011 Southeast Asian Games, got a chance to evaluate those Falcons up close for possible inclusion in the national team.

Dubbed the "Blue Birds," the Ateneo-Adamson selection beat the Thai national team and Chinese team GCC Group before losing to Xin Cheng Holdings, another Chinese team. In the semifinals they lost to US team SCFA, the eventual tournament winner, then dropped their match for third place against the Hong Kong national team.
