Remember Him?

Save for Sen. Jamby Madrigal's occasional sniping of Sen. Manny Villar, this year's presidential contest has largely been boring. I know why: unlike the last presidential elections in 2004, there's no candidate in the caliber of Eddie Gil.

Gil was a character, to say the least. He claimed to be a billionaire and vowed that if elected president he would make each Filipino a millionaire. On top of that he promised to pay the entire national debt out of his own pockets.

For being a nuisance candidate Gil was eventually disqualified. For a brief spell, though, he provided non-stop entertainment. Case in point:
