Ron-Ron Grows On You

And I mean that in a figurative, non-bicephalic kind of way. ESPN's E:60: Ron Artest in L.A. clip shows why.

His Filipino connection. In the video Artest again visits the Fil-Am family that introduced him to "how low halo" some weeks back, and wears a Laker-purple "My Pilipinas" shirt and a "Pacquiao vs. Cotto" cap that he's worn before. He also went to Freddie Roach's Wild Card Gym to watch Manny work out.

His humor. Artest's mantra for coexisting with Black Mamba? "Pass to Kobe."

His Rodman-esque ways. Dennis Rodman was my favorite player on those Phil Jackson-coached Chicago Bulls teams that won NBA championships from 1996 to 1998. A decade later, Artest made it to another Jackson five. Crazy hair? Check. Volatile personality, stout defense? Check and check.
