A few days ago I was at a bank on an errand to pick up checkbooks. I expected to bring home only two or three, so I was momentarily stumped when my contact placed twenty in front of me. They wouldn't fit in my pants pockets so I told my contact, "Pahingi naman ng lalagyan, please."
I was seated at the time next to an old lady who, obviously, had observed the whole exchange. She pulled out an SM plastic bag and with a smile offered it to me.
After saying thanks I ventured, "Ma'am, Girl Scout ho ba kayo noong kabataan ninyo?"
"Oo, elementary at high school," the lady said.
