Tales From Two Errands

As I watched an SSS guard take down the Philippine flag during yesterday's sudden downpour I had half a mind to tell him he was breaking the law: The Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines says that the flag shall not be raised during inclement weather. If already raised prior to inclement weather, the flag shall not be lowered.

In the end I decided not to say anything. Nobody wants to see the flag hanging like a limp, wet rag.

(Also, the guard had a shotgun.)

Some government offices really are a special circle of hell. Case in point: The guy I talked to yesterday at the Bureau of Immigration played Zynga Poker on Facebook before, during, and after our conversation.
