UAAP Season 72 Jerseyvaluation: UE Red Warriors

After years of wearing Nike, the Red Warriors went with ANTA this season. The latter did a swell job, except that with the inclusion of the team moniker, there are too many design elements on the UE jersey.

The Red Warriors also have a logo-heavy uniform—there's an ANTA emblem on the shorts and the top, a Tanduay "T" down the right side of the shorts, a Cobra Energy Drink logo at the back of the jersey, and what looks like a Chinese character (which may or may not stand for another sponsor) down the left side of the shorts—but most of them are discreetly placed.

And while it is well-known that UE is owned by the Tan family of Asia Brewery and Tanduay Distillers fame, it is still offputting to see a rum company's trademark on the Red Warriors uniforms. Sure, the UAAP basketball tournament is commercialized, but it shouldn't be that commercialized. A collegiate team should not have as its sponsor a company that deals in "sin" products.
