Nograles to solons: Live simply, spend wiselyI didn't make it past the first two paragraphs: I was laughing like crazy. How could I not, the Honorable Speaker and I don't live on the same planet!

MANILA, Philippines—Speaker Prospero Nograles on Monday called on his colleagues in the House of Representatives to live frugally and use public funds judiciously as their respective constituencies struggle with rising food and fuel costs.
Nograles made the call as the House undergoes a P200-million renovation.
“We must provide the leadership in terms of exemplifying values that can best strengthen our people’s will to overcome economic difficulties. Let us inspire our people. Let us live simply,” Nograles said in his speech before the opening session of the House.
“Let us all work hard. And most of all, let us use the resources of government judiciously and wisely,” he added.
At times like this I wish I wrote better. Sure, I'm decent at it, but I know I'm not a good writer. I can't write crisp, biting commentary. I'm not witty. I'm not even funny.
I want to write like Dennis Miller (or like his writers) did in his Rants series. Because this is a gimme, a 3-and-0 not-so-fastball down the middle of the plate.
Gifted writers will hit a home run. I, on the other hand, will probably hit into a game-ending double play.
